This short film follows my mum, Annabelle Holloway, as she comes to terms with the diagnosis of a brain tumor. It captures the emotional weight of those early days — the fear, the uncertainty — but also the resilience and love that held everything together.
This is a deeply personal story. It’s about illness, yes, but more than that, it’s about what binds us when everything else begins to fall away. Through quiet moments and close connection, the film explores the strength found in family, vulnerability, and showing up for each other when it matters most.
Every year, over 12,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with a brain tumor, and they remain one of the most challenging cancers to treat. Symptoms can vary widely but often include persistent headaches, seizures, or changes in vision, balance, or personality. While some tumors are benign and treatable, all require early detection and specialized care. Consider supporting charities like Brain Tumour Research or The Brain Tumour Charity, which fund critical research and provide resources for patients and families.
I was invited to participate in a Q&A with Falmouth University, where I had the opportunity to discuss the creative process, challenges, and insights behind this work. Please do give it a read.
